PBS International tackles global challenges
The MIP List is a curated list of new shows that are hitting the global market at MIPTV this year. Check out what’s making waves, and why they’re sked-worthy. MIPTV runs from April 8 to 10 in Cannes, France.
For MIPTV 2024, the focus for PBS International is on premium factual content that responds to global challenges — including politics, technology, science breakthroughs and historical re-evaluations. PBS aims to be the trusted source of information for audiences, taking a balanced approach to topics so that viewers can make up their own minds.
PBS International distributes award-winning documentaries that take a balance approach to a diverse range of topics so that viewers can make up their own minds. That’s certainly evident in their MIPTV line-up, including the three-part series The Choice 2024 (from PBS’ current affairs strand FRONTLINE), which looks at the upcoming US election, impartially examining the characters, and leadership styles of both major-party candidates. It’s also evident in A.I. Revolution (from PBS’ science strand NOVA), which explores the forefront of A.I. advancements, featuring interviews with the leading scientists and researchers shaping the future of artificial intelligence – while not shying away from discussing the ethical implications and potential risks associated with the technology.
Or, finally, it can be seen in War Machine: World War II, which offers a unique perspective of the conflict by delving deep into the industrial aspect of warfare. The series uncovers the pivotal role of factories, production processes and the intricate interplay between weaponry and industrial might, providing viewers with a comprehensive understanding of the war’s material foundations.
